Sometimes You Just Can't Win

Medicare (NYS) doesn't have an email address for easy answers. I contacted one of the groups that has direct access to Medicare to inform them about the scam I wrote about in a previous entry. The answer I received was disturbing.

I send a copy of the email I received, asked them to read it and see for themselves the erroneous link and to alert Medicare.

The person, I'm assuming, in an effort to get me a quick answer, misspelled a lot of simple words but the most disturbing was she had no idea what I was trying to tell them! My request was clear and I even separately wrote out the correct link and the wrong link. They are most obviously not the same link and still she couldn't understand what I was telling her and worse: she gave me an explanation as to why Medicare changed addresses effect 4/23/08.

I will continue to get to the bottom of these emails and will post my answers.

Hi, Sarita

I'll save you the trouble of trying to figure out who I am: Cyanotic Wasp (Blue Hornet).

Is that your photo in your avatar? Very beautiful. No wonder I'm so taken with Indian women. And don't worry, I'm not actually hitting on you; I already have a girlfriend who is a very lovely South American woman, born to expat Indian parents. Otherwise ... yeah, I'd hit on you for sure.

I was also curious about your blog, and whether Medicare ever got a decent response back to you on that fraud thing. I fear that larger and larger parts of our entire economy are now being "managed" by the same type of idiots you wrote about in the last post you left.

Chris

PS: If you suggest in any way that it would not be an unwelcome attempt, I may drop my girlfriend and hit on you anyway, so respond carefully if you answer at all.

PPS: I'm only half kidding.

PPPS: I'm not in the habit of writing mash notes to ABers, and I won't keep this up if it's not welcome, if you have a boyfriend / husband, if you "play for the other team", if I'm too old, etc. etc. But I was also curious about the outcome of the Medicare thing. Really.

Finally: I'm only posting this as a comment here because the email address you have on the AB profile page was rejected. Hope you don't mind.

Thats not me in the avatar but i have been told it looks a heck of a lot like me!

Medicare has managed to totally mess up the lives of thousands of doctors by rejecting claims that should never have been rejected, and when they installed their new electronic system, (though nothing was wrong with the old one) they didnt get thousands of claims . It has been a up hill battle with them and a lot of drs have stopped taking Medicare because of the hassle.
